The ferry port of Lefkimmi lies in the south of Corfu and is, alongside Corfu Town, the island's second ferry port. From here you can reach two destinations: Igoumenitsa on the Greek mainland and Paxi, the island of Paxos south of Corfu. Both crossings take around 45 minutes, and together the services add up to as many as 21 departures a day. The port is served by Kamelia Lines, Lefkimmi Lines and Makedonia IV. According to Kamelia Lines, its service to Paxos runs daily all year round, while the frequency to Igoumenitsa varies considerably by season.
Igoumenitsa is the more interesting of the two for onward travel. The town in Thesprotia has around 15,000 inhabitants, and its port is one of the great Greek gateways to the west: from there, ferries run not only to Corfu and Paxos but also to Patras and across the Adriatic to Bari, Brindisi, Venice and Ancona. If you are travelling in the south of Corfu, Lefkimmi saves you the detour to Corfu Town and the approach to its harbour.
