The ferry port of L'Île-Rousse lies on the north coast of Corsica in the Balagne, with the terminal on the Pietra peninsula at the edge of the town. From here you can reach 5 destinations, among them Marseille, Nice and Savona, plus Toulon and Sète. Together the services add up to as many as 10 departures a day, and crossings take between 6 and 14.5 hours. The port is served by Corsica Ferries and Corsica Linea.
Getting there and the terminal
From Bastia you drive on the T30 and then the D81A, from Calvi on the T30 and the D513. In town, signs marked "Le Port" lead you to the harbour; on foot you simply follow the seafront road from the centre. There is only one terminal, the Gare Maritime on Route du Port, and therefore only one check-in for both operators. You can park nearby at the Parking Napoléon, the Parking de la Poste, the Parking Marin and the Parking de la Gare. The station of the Corsican railway is in the town, and buses link L'Île-Rousse with Calvi, Bastia and Ajaccio among other places.
Check-in
With a vehicle you need to be at the port two hours before departure. Signs direct you to the marshalling area for your operator, destination and departure time, after which come the security check and the operator's own check, and then you board. Security checks start up to two hours before departure. On foot you report at your operator's desk in the Gare Maritime and wait until your ship is called over the loudspeakers. You have to carry your ticket and ID with you, even if you leave the port area in the meantime.
