The ferry port of Lochmaddy lies on North Uist in the Outer Hebrides and belongs to the Scottish council area of the Western Isles. From here you can reach Uig on Skye: the timetable lists up to 2 departures a day and the crossing takes around 1.75 hours. The port is served by Caledonian MacBrayne.
Getting there and the terminal
The terminal is on the edge of Lochmaddy and has the postcode HS6 5AA. Free long-stay parking is available right next to the building, along with two accessible bays. Inside you will find a ticket desk, a waiting area, toilets with baby-changing facilities and free Wi-Fi, and there is a charging point for electric cars on the pier. A petrol station, cash machine and food shop are all within 800 metres; the cash machine is in the post office about 100 metres from the terminal. The local bus stops opposite the terminal, and taxis come on request.
Check-in
With a car you should be at the terminal no later than 45 minutes before departure, and on foot no later than 30 minutes before. Caledonian MacBrayne gives both deadlines for Lochmaddy. The ticket desk in the terminal is the place to go if anything needs sorting out on the day of travel.
