Catalina Landing, 320 Golden Shore, Long Beach

The ferry port of Long Beach in California is one of the starting points for the trip to Santa Catalina Island. From here you can reach Avalon. Up to 14 times a day a ferry departs. The crossing takes around one hour. The port is served by Catalina Express.

Getting there and the terminal

Catalina Express departs from Catalina Landing, 320 Golden Shore in Long Beach. The terminal sits right on the water in the middle of downtown, next to the Pike and close to the Aquarium of the Pacific and Shoreline Village. There's a car park on site with a daily rate; you can leave your car overnight without a reservation, though staying longer than 30 days requires prior arrangement. Coaches can also park there. The ticket counter opens an hour before the first sailing of the day and closes after the last scheduled departure.

Check-in

Catalina Express recommends being at the terminal at least an hour before departure: parking and boarding take time. The gates close 5 minutes before the scheduled departure, at which point boarding ends. If you miss them, you lose your place with no right to a refund.
