Ferries to Marseille

The ferry port of Marseille is on Place de la Joliette and in the neighbouring Arenc basin, just minutes from the city centre. From here you can reach 10 destinations, including Ajaccio, Algiers and Bastia. Together the connections add up to as many as 19 departures a day. Crossings take between 12.75 and 42 hours: the Corsican ports are an overnight sailing away, while to Tunis, Algiers or Tanger Med you're at sea considerably longer. The port is served by Corsica Linea, CTN Ferries, La Méridionale and Nouris El Bahr Ferries.

Getting there and the terminal

Marseille doesn't have one terminal but several, and which one is yours depends on the shipping company. La Méridionale gives its address as Gare Maritime de Marseille, Terminal 1, Arenc, 13002 Marseille: by car via the A55, exit Arenc/Gare Maritime, vehicles to Porte 1, foot passengers to Porte 2. By public transport you can get there on metro line 2 to Joliette or on tram lines T2 and T3 to Arenc Euroméditerranée; from Saint-Charles station, metro line 2 runs there directly. Corsica Linea sends foot passengers for Corsica to the Gare Maritime de la Joliette and vehicles, depending on the departure, to Porte 1 or Porte 3A; for the North Africa lines, to Porte 3 Beauséjour.

Check-in

For Corsica you must present yourself to La Méridionale at least an hour before departure, or an hour and a half beforehand with a vehicle. For the crossings to Morocco, check-in begins seven hours before departure and ends two hours beforehand.
