Merang Jetty ferry port is in Malaysia, on the coast of the state of Terengganu. From here you can reach Pulau Redang and Lang Tengah Island. Together the services add up to as many as 36 departures a day. The crossing takes around 45 minutes. The port is served by Vigourmarine.
Getting there and the terminal
Merang is a fishing village in Setiu district, around 25 kilometres north of Kuala Terengganu. The jetty is not a terminal in any grand sense but a handover point: the state tourism office describes it as having ticket counters, toilets and food stalls, and nothing more is needed here. Vigourmarine, which handles the processing, gives the distance to Sultan Mahmud airport in Kuala Terengganu as around 30 kilometres.
Redang is likewise 30 kilometres from here, 45 minutes to an hour depending on the boat. No other mainland jetty is closer to the island. Besides Redang and Lang Tengah, boats from Merang also serve Pulau Bidong, the former Vietnamese refugee island, which is open to visitors again today.
