The ferry port of Muuga lies just outside Tallinn, within the town of Maardu in Harju county. From here you reach Vuosaari, the eastern harbour of Helsinki: Eckerö Line runs the route up to 6 times a day and the crossing takes around 2.75 hours. If you want to avoid the busy terminals in the city centre, this is the alternative.

Getting there and the terminal

Eckerö Line checks in at Põhjaranna tee 24 in Maardu; the port company Tallinna Sadam lists passenger operations at Muuga under Põhjaranna tee 1. Vehicles are led on board behind an escort vehicle, which happens in groups and can involve short waits.

Check-in

The crossing is only possible with your own motor vehicle: all travellers have to board in a vehicle, bicycles are not permitted on this route, and the vehicle has to be booked in advance. The ship used is the freight vessel Finbo Cargo, which carries a passenger deck. Check-in closes 45 minutes before the scheduled departure.
