Ferries to Mytilene

Mytilene ferry port is in the capital of Lesbos in the north-eastern Aegean and is also one of the most important crossings to the Turkish coast. From here you can reach 16 destinations, among them Ayvalık, Chios and Agios Kirikos, plus Dikili and Aliaga in Turkey, Lemnos, Samos, Patmos and Kavala. Together the services add up to as many as 36 departures a day, and crossings take between 45 minutes and 13 hours. The port is served by Blue Star Ferries, Hellenic Seaways, Ido and Turyol.

Getting there and the terminal

The passenger port is right by the town centre: according to the port administration, the taxi rank and the bus stop are only ten metres from the terminal, and the airport is eight kilometres away. The passenger building measures 180 square metres and has free wi-fi; three moles with 480 metres of quay between them take the large ferries from Piraeus as well, and the port works around the clock all year. Parking at the passenger port is chargeable on the areas marked in blue, Monday to Saturday from 08:00 to 21:00. You pay at a machine that takes cards only, or with a scratch card from a kiosk. Areas marked in white are free, and so are the blue ones after 21:00 and on Sundays and public holidays.

Check-in

On the northern Aegean routes, Blue Star Ferries and Hellenic Seaways both want an hour's lead time, on foot as well as with a vehicle. For the crossing to and from Ayvalık, Turyol also states at least one hour; on top of that comes passport control, which can take a while in high season.
