Ferries to Nirup Island

Nirup Island is a small Indonesian resort island with its own berth off the coast of Batam. From here you can reach the HarbourFront Centre in Singapore. Ferries leave up to 2 times a day and the crossing takes around 45 minutes. The route is operated by Horizon Fast Ferry.

Getting there and the terminal

The island has no road link; the berth is the only way in. Horizon Fast Ferry serves it directly from Singapore, though not every day: the operator lists Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Departures from Singapore are at 13:05 and from Nirup at 13:15 Indonesian time. Tickets for the Nirup sailing are sold at the Horizon Fast Ferry counter in the Singapore Cruise Centre, 5 HarbourFront Avenue #01-10.

Check-in

The crossing goes over a national border, so border formalities come before boarding. Horizon Fast Ferry therefore asks you to be at the terminal at least one hour before departure - that hour goes on immigration and boarding, not on waiting at the quay. Checked baggage is taken at the counter next to passport control, on level 1 in Singapore. Bear in mind that Indonesia is one hour behind Singapore; the timetables are given in local time in each case.
