Ferries to Nisyros

Nisyros ferry port lies on the volcanic island of the same name in the Dodecanese. From here you can reach 14 destinations, among them Kalymnos, Kos and Rhodes. Together the connections add up to as many as 30.5 departures a day. Crossings take between 45 minutes and 13.5 hours. The port is served by Blue Star Ferries, Dodekanisos Seaways, Hellenic Seaways and SAOS Ferries.

Getting there and the terminal

Nisyros has exactly one harbour, and it is in Mandraki. Dodekanisos Seaways lists a single call point for the island, and that is the quay of the main village on the north-west coast. That settles the question which costs time on other Dodecanese islands: whichever operator you travel with, you step ashore in Mandraki.

Mandraki climbs the slope like an amphitheatre, overlooked by the Venetian castle and the monastery of Panagia Spiliani; you arrive at the waterfront. For the volcanic crater and the villages inland you need a bus, a taxi or a hire car. None of the four operators publishes a check-in window of its own for Nisyros; what counts is the departure time on your ticket.
