The ferry port of Nokdong lies in the south-west of the Goheung peninsula in the South Korean province of Jeollanam-do. From here you reach Jeju, the country's largest island. A ferry leaves up to 2 times a day and the crossing takes around 3.5 hours. The route is served by Namhae Gosok Ferry.
Getting there and the terminal
Nokdong has two harbour basins, and that is where travellers go wrong. The old basin holds Nokdong's traditional market with the fishmongers; the ferries to Jeju and to Geomundo, however, leave from the new harbour. The passenger terminal is there too. Around the harbour area you will find the terminal, the fish market and a public car park, so you can leave the car behind if you are crossing without a vehicle.
Nokdong is therefore more than the feeder to Jeju: boats to Sorokdo, Geomundo and Baekdo also leave from here. So when you get your bearings on the spot, first check which of the two basins your service uses rather than following the nearest signpost.
