- Nongsapura Ferry Terminal, Nongsa, Batam
Nongsapura ferry port is on Batam in Indonesia. From here you can reach Tanah Merah in Singapore and Pasir Gudang in Malaysia. Together the services run up to 20 departures a day. Crossings take between 45 minutes and an hour. The port is served by Batam Fast Ferry.
Getting there and the terminal
Nongsapura lies on the northern side of Batam on the Nongsa river, well away from Nagoya and the island's other ferry terminals. This is not a city harbour but the berth for the Nongsa resort belt: Turi Beach, Nongsa Point Marina, Batam View and Montigo are all nearby, and many of the hotels drive their guests to the terminal themselves. So ask at your hotel before you order a taxi. Hang Nadim airport is easy to reach from here, and two golf courses are a few minutes' drive away. The terminal itself has a café, a money changer and a few shops.
Check-in
The trip to Tanah Merah is an international journey, so it runs through border control. Batam Fast requires you to be at the gate in front of immigration with your boarding pass at least 30 minutes before departure, otherwise the booking lapses. Online booking closes one hour before the departure you want. If you check in luggage, go to the baggage desk first with your boarding pass and passport, and allow extra time for it.
