- Northport Ferry Terminal, 1 Emma Place, Rous Head Road, North Fremantle
The ferry port of North Fremantle is in Australia. From here you reach Rottnest Island. A ferry leaves up to 6 times a day. The crossing takes around 30 minutes. The port is served by Rottnest Express.
Getting there and the terminal
The berth is called Northport and lies in the Rous Head harbour area, at 1 Emma Place, Rous Head Road, North Fremantle. It can only be reached by car: Rottnest Express points out explicitly that cycling, scooters and walking are prohibited within the Rous Head harbour area. If you are arriving by train or bus, you are better off using the operator's second terminal at Victoria Quay in Fremantle. Northport has its own car park with just under 400 spaces for day and long-term parking, paid for at the machine or through the operator's app. The terminal is open daily from 7:30 am to 4:15 pm, and the car park closes 30 minutes after the last departure.
Check-in
Rottnest Express pulls the gangway five minutes before the scheduled departure so that the ship leaves on time. Anyone arriving later stays ashore. Allow extra time for finding a parking space and dropping off luggage; in high season it gets tight. You may bring bicycles, but they must be no more than 1.3 metres high, 1.8 metres long, 45 centimetres wide and 22 kilograms in weight; on e-bikes the battery has to be removable, or the bike stays behind.
