Sampalan ferry port is on the north-east coast of Nusa Penida off Bali. From here you can reach 5 destinations, among them Kusamba, Sanur and Bangsal. Together the services add up to as many as 25 departures a day. Crossings take between 15 minutes and 2.5 hours. The port is served by S’gening Fast Boat and The Angkal Fast Cruise.
Getting there and the terminal
Nusa Penida is served through three berths, and they are a long way apart. Sampalan is the way in for the east of the island: Atuh Beach, Diamond Beach and the ridge everyone calls Teletubbies Hill are closest from here. Most boats from Bali, however, use Banjar Nyuh in the north-west, the busiest berth on the island; Toya Pakeh is right beside it. If you are staying in the east and land at Banjar Nyuh, a long scooter ride awaits you.
On Bali there are two departure points. Sanur is the large, well-connected harbour and the starting point for most speedboats to Sampalan. Kusamba in Klungkung regency on the east coast is closer to Nusa Penida and shortens the crossing noticeably; in return it lies further east itself, so the drive from southern Bali is longer.
