The ferry port of Oinousses is on Oinousses in the North Aegean, a small group of islands between Chios and the Turkish coast. From here you can reach 6 destinations, among them Chios, Mytilene and Piraeus. Together the services add up to as many as 10 departures a day. Crossings take between 45 minutes and 16.75 hours. The port is served by Hellenic Seaways.
Getting there and the terminal
Oinousses is a group of small islands, and in practice only the largest is settled. The main village carries the same name, is the seat of the municipality and gathers around a square and the small harbour. Arrive by ship and you are already in the middle of the village. There is no second berth to get confused about.
The island lies only around two kilometres off the north-east coast of Chios; the Turkish coast is about eight kilometres away. In practice, then, every route to Oinousses runs via Chios. The harbour itself is small and in summer full of yachts and fishing boats. The long line via Mytilene to Piraeus and on into the North Aegean calls at the island only on individual days of the week; if you want to use it, plan by the timetable and not by the day of the week.
