The ferry port of Olbia lies in the north-east of Sardinia and is the island's most important gateway to the Italian mainland. From here you can reach Livorno, Civitavecchia and Genoa. Together the services add up to as many as 18 departures a day. Crossings take between 7.5 and 12.75 hours. The port is served by Grandi Navi Veloci, Grimaldi Lines, Moby Lines and Tirrenia.

Getting there and the terminal

All ferries berth at the Stazione Marittima Isola Bianca, the harbour mole in front of the town; the address is Viale Isola Bianca. By car you reach the port from the south and south-east on the SS 125 and the SS 131 dcn and from the north-west on the SS 597, and it is signposted within the town. Regional buses run to the port directly from Nuoro, Sassari, Santa Teresa and Orosei among other places. There is an information point in the Stazione Marittima.

Check-in

Moby Lines checks in electronically on the apron in front of the ship: with a vehicle you have to be there 90 minutes before departure, and without a vehicle one hour beforehand from June to September and 30 minutes from October to May. Grimaldi Lines is stricter and requires two hours with a vehicle and one hour before departure without. Anyone arriving later loses the right to travel, even with a booking.
