Panarea ferry port is at San Pietro, the main village of the smallest inhabited island in the Aeolian archipelago. The berth is well tied into the archipelago: from here you can reach 14 destinations, among them Lipari and Salina in 30 minutes, Stromboli in 45 minutes and Vulcano in a good hour. On the mainland it is about 1.75 hours to Milazzo, plus Messina, Vibo Valentia and, in season, the long service to Naples. Together the routes run up to 105 departures a day. The port is served by Liberty Lines, Siremar and SNAV.
Getting there and the terminal
There is no terminal building. The ships tie up at the pier in San Pietro, and the Liberty Lines ticket office is on Via Comunale Mare in San Pietro, a few steps from the berth.
Check-in
For its hydrofoils on the Italian domestic routes, Liberty Lines requires you to be at the boarding point no later than 15 minutes before departure; after that, carriage is no longer guaranteed. Siremar is stricter: there 30 minutes apply to foot passengers. Keep to the 30 minutes and you are on the safe side with both operators.
