The ferry port of Pangkal Pinang lies on Bangka in Indonesia. From here you can reach Tanjung Pandan. Ferries leave up to 2 times a day. The crossing takes around 4.5 hours. The port is served by Express Bahari.

Getting there and the terminal

The berth carries a different name from the city, and that is the name to ask for locally: it is called Pelabuhan Pangkalbalam and lies at Jalan Yos Sudarso 1 in Kelurahan Lontong Pancur, Pangkal Balam district. That is the seaward edge of Pangkalpinang, not the city centre. A taxi driver asked for the port of Pangkalpinang will as a rule take you exactly there, but the name Pangkalbalam saves the follow-up questions.

The Belitung route is worked by the Express Bahari 3E, operated by the shipping company PT SIM. The port at the other end is called Tanjungpandan. In spring 2026 the operator increased departures from four to five a week: Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, with the Saturday sailing initially running as a trial.

One advantage of the fast ferry over the ro-ro ships on the route is its reliability. Their timetables depend on the tides; the Express Bahari's does not.
