Ferries to Pasir Gudang

Pasir Gudang ferry port is in Malaysia, in the state of Johor on the Straits of Johor. From here you can reach Batam Centre, Harbour Bay and Nongsapura, all three on the Indonesian island of Batam. Together the services run up to 20 departures a day. Crossings take between one hour and 1.75 hours. The port is served by Batam Fast Ferry and Dolphin Fast Ferry.

Getting there and the terminal

The terminal has the address Lot 21, Jalan Feri, Pelabuhan Pasir Gudang, 81700 Pasir Gudang, which puts it inside the port area itself, surrounded by the industrial plants of Johor Port and a race circuit. The terminal operator describes the location as east of the centre of Johor Bahru: that is the decisive piece of information for anyone coming from the city or from Singapore. Allow generous time for the journey overland, as no public transport link to the terminal is listed. Besides Batam, destinations on Bintan are served from here as well.

Check-in

The trip to Indonesia is an international journey with border control in the terminal. Batam Fast requires you to be at the gate in front of immigration with your boarding pass at least 30 minutes before departure, otherwise the booking lapses; you can book online up to an hour before departure. No separate information is available for Dolphin Fast Ferry. Allow more time if you have checked baggage, as the baggage desk is the first stop.
