Patras ferry port lies in the north-west of the Peloponnese and is Greece's most important link to Italy. From here you can reach 5 destinations: the Adriatic ports of Ancona, Bari and Venice, plus Sami on Kefalonia and Ithaca in the Ionian Sea. Together the services run up to 10 departures a day, and crossings take between 3 and 32.5 hours. The port is served by Blue Star Ferries and Levante Ferries.

Getting there and the terminal

The ferries to Italy leave from the new South Port on Akti Dymaion, and the access road runs through Gate A. Superfast Ferries gives the New Terminal Station in the South Port, postcode 26333, as its point of call. A ticket desk at the central port gate (Gate 6) is staffed in the afternoon and evening, and the operator's town office is by the old port at Othonos Amalias 12. City bus route 118 links the port with the KTEL Achaia long-distance bus station; extra services run when the ferries arrive. The port authority assigns the daily departures to Kefalonia and Ithaca to the part of the port in the centre, so check which part of the port is on your ticket before you set off.

Check-in

For the Adriatic routes, Superfast Ferries advises being in the boarding area three hours before departure, for foot passengers and vehicles alike. Check-in closes 30 minutes before departure. If you are collecting your ticket at the port, you have to do so at the port agency no later than three hours before departure.
