Barrack Street Jetty

The ferry port of Perth lies in Australia, on the Swan River in the middle of the capital of Western Australia. From here you can reach Fremantle and Rottnest Island. Together the routes add up to as many as 8 departures a day, and the crossings take between 1.25 and 1.5 hours. The port is served by Captain Cook Cruises, Rottnest Express and Sealink Rottnest.

Getting there and the terminal

The city departures leave from Barrack Street in the centre of Perth, that is from Barrack Street Jetty on the Swan River. Rottnest Express runs downriver from there and covers the route to Rottnest Island with commentary on board; it is the comfortable but long option.

If you want to save time, join further down the river: Rottnest Express also serves the B Shed terminal in Fremantle, with Northport as a fallback. B Shed is currently being rebuilt, access and parking are restricted, and the operator explicitly advises allowing more time and following the instructions at the terminal. Parking at B Shed is possible by the day and over several days; the terminal can also be reached by bus and train. You buy tickets at the terminal or online in advance, which noticeably shortens the process before departure.
