- Gare Maritime de Bergevin
The ferry port of Pointe a Pitre is in Guadeloupe. From here you can reach 5 destinations, among them Grand Bourg, Castries and Fort de France. Together the routes run up to 12 departures a day. Crossings take between an hour and 7.25 hours. The port is served by L’Express Des Iles.
Getting there and the terminal
Vessels leave from the Gare Maritime de Bergevin, the ferry station in the Bergevin district. The short hops to the outlying islands of Marie-Galante and Les Saintes start here, as do the long runs to Dominica, Martinique and St Lucia. Do not go by your operator's name when you approach: the other providers check in at the same Gare Maritime, and L’Express Des Iles now trades under the FRS umbrella. Sailings to Dominica and St Lucia take you out of French territory, so you need valid travel documents for them. In terms of time these are two different worlds as well: Grand Bourg on Marie-Galante is an hour away, Castries on St Lucia a good seven. The long routes do not run daily, while the services to the outlying islands go several times a day.
