MacMillan Wharf

Provincetown ferry port lies at the tip of Cape Cod in the United States. From here you can reach Boston and Plymouth MA. Together the services add up to as many as 6 departures a day. The crossing takes around 1.5 hours. The port is served by Boston Harbor City Cruises and Captain John Boats.

Getting there and the terminal

Both operators berth at MacMillan Wharf, the pier in the centre of Provincetown. On the other side of the bay there are two different berths: Boston Harbor City Cruises sails from Long Wharf in central Boston, Captain John Boats from the State Pier at 77 Water Street in Plymouth. Both services run only in the summer half of the year; the fast ferry to Boston operates from mid-May to mid-October. The Plymouth sailing is timed as a day trip, out in the morning and back in the late afternoon.

Check-in

Boston Harbor City Cruises asks you to be at the pier 30 minutes before departure; by its own account the boat does not wait for latecomers. Captain John Boats allows around 60 minutes for ticket collection and boarding, which is the stricter requirement here. Allow the longer time if you still have to pick up your ticket at the counter.
