- Village/Kampung Jetty, Pulau Redang; Festlandsseite Merang Jetty
The Village Jetty is the main berth on Redang Island off the east coast of Malaysia. From here you can reach Merang Jetty on the mainland and the neighbouring island of Lang Tengah. Together the routes run up to 15 departures a day. Crossings take between 30 and 45 minutes. The berth is served by Vigourmarine.
Getting there and the terminal
Redang has six jetties, and which one you use is decided not by your ticket but by where you are staying: Vigourmarine drops its guests at the jetty nearest their resort. The Village Jetty, also called Kampung Jetty or simply Redang Island Jetty, is the jetty for the island village and the properties around it, among them Redang Island Resort, D'Rimba, Redang Island Village and Kieara Redang Chalet. Guests of the Taaras land here too, but need onward transport from their hotel, for a fee. If you are staying at one of the twelve resorts on the large beach bay, you will be set down at the Laguna Jetty and not here.
On the mainland the crossing starts at Merang Jetty. It is the closest berth to the island and lies around 30 kilometres from Sultan Mahmud airport in Kuala Terengganu, and the trip to the island takes 45 minutes to an hour from there. For the journey to the mainland end, Vigourmarine offers its own taxi and van transfers.
