Rhodes ferry port is in Rhodes Town at the northern tip of the island, in the Dodecanese. From here you can reach 31 destinations, among them Symi, Marmaris and Kos. Together the services add up to as many as 106.5 departures a day. Crossings take between one hour and 17.75 hours. The port is served by 8 operators, among them Blue Star Ferries, Dodekanisos Seaways and Hellenic Seaways. Symi is 75 minutes away, Marmaris on the Turkish coast one hour, Piraeus just under 18.
Getting there and the terminal
Rhodes Town has three harbour basins, and they do different jobs. The Central Harbour is reserved for international traffic, so the routes to Turkey, plus the cruise ships. Kolona lies opposite, to the north of it, and handles traffic within the Dodecanese as well as yachts of every size. Akandia, south of the Central Harbour, is the new port for domestic routes, freight and general traffic; facilities on the landward side are still missing there, and a passenger terminal is only now being built. Check which basin your ticket names before you set off, because the three are not side by side on the same quay.
Check-in
Blue Star Ferries, which runs the routes to Piraeus and Crete from here, asks you to be at the boarding area at least one hour before departure, with or without a vehicle.
