Rinella is the second port of the Aeolian island of Salina and belongs to the municipality of Leni on the south coast. From here you can reach 13 destinations, among them Lipari, Vulcano and Milazzo, as well as the remote islands of Alicudi and Filicudi and the larger ports of Naples and Palermo. Together the services add up to as many as 117 departures a day. Crossings take between 15 minutes and 14 hours. The port is served by Liberty Lines and Siremar.
Getting there and the terminal
The berth is called Molo V. Lamaro and lies on Via Vincenzo Lamaro in Leni, right on the bay with the black sand beach. There is no terminal building in the usual sense: the Liberty Lines desk stands directly at the Molo d'imbarco, and the agency for the Siremar ferries is run by Caronte & Tourist Isole Minori at the same address. Foot passengers and vehicles are both handled on the pier, with the crew directing traffic.
Check-in
According to the operator, the ticket desk in Rinella is staffed from at least 90 minutes before every departure. That is where you check in before boarding; bring your printed or digital ticket and a valid form of ID. Salina's other port, Santa Marina Salina, is on the east side of the island and is served by the same operators, so do not confuse the two when booking.
