The ferry port of Rødby is on Lolland in Denmark, in the Rødbyhavn district on the south coast of the island. From here you can reach Puttgarden. A ferry leaves up to 75 times a day. The crossing takes around 45 minutes. The port is served by Scandlines. Rødby is thus the Danish end of the Vogelfluglinie and, for many travellers, the first or last stop between Scandinavia and the Continent.

Getting there and the terminal

Scandlines gives the address as Rødby Hafen, Færgestationsvej 5, 4970 Rødby. Check-in lies at the end of the E47, so you drive practically all the way to the ramp. As a satnav destination the operator recommends entering Rødby-Puttgarden Scandlines Check-in.

Vehicles are sorted by length at the port: the blue lane is for cars up to six metres and runs via a machine, while in the yellow lane a member of staff checks you in. Foot passengers go to the gangway building, scan their ticket at the machine in the gangway hall and then take the stairs to the gangway and straight on board.

Check-in

Vehicle check-in opens two hours before the scheduled departure and closes 15 minutes before it. Scandlines recommends being at the port at least 30 minutes before departure. A 15-minute deadline also applies to bicycles, which board via the yellow lane. Foot passengers have to be at the gangway at the latest 15 minutes before departure. Since it takes about five to ten minutes to get from the gangway hall to the ship, it is worth being there earlier.
