Location
Rotterdam, Südholland

Rotterdam ferry port lies in the province of South Holland. From here you can reach Hull and York; together the services come to up to 5 departures a day. The crossing to England takes around 11.5 hours and is made overnight: you board in the evening and arrive the next morning. The port is served by P&O Ferries.

Getting there and the terminal

The berth is not in the city but out at the Europoort, around 30 minutes' drive from Rotterdam. The address is Europoort Ferry Terminal, Luxemburgweg, 3198 LG Europoort; P&O Ferries lists the berth under port number 5805. By car you follow the signs from the A20 or the A4 into the ferry site, where staff direct vehicles and foot passengers into the lanes. The terminal has waiting areas, step-free facilities, toilets and charging points for electric cars. Guarded parking is available near the terminal, including for the whole of your trip; a shuttle takes foot passengers to the ship if needed. The operator reckons on around an hour's drive from the terminal to Amsterdam.

Check-in

P&O Ferries closes check-in on the Hull - Rotterdam service 90 minutes before the scheduled departure. With a car you should therefore be at the terminal at least an hour and a half beforehand. For foot passengers the desk opens at 3pm; because of the overnight sailing, a cabin is compulsory for every foot passenger on this route. A valid passport is part of it, as the operator no longer accepts EU identity cards.
