Rysjedalsvika ferry port is in Norway and is remarkably well connected for its size. From here you can reach 18 destinations, among them Balestrand, Bergen and Lavik. Together the services add up to as many as 49 departures a day. Crossings take between 15 minutes and 3.25 hours. The port is served by Norled.
Getting there and the terminal
Rysjedalsvika belongs to the municipality of Hyllestad in Vestland, not to the island municipality of Solund, which is served from here. That is the commonest mistake made about this quay. It is around seven kilometres to Leirvik, the administrative seat of Hyllestad, and about thirteen to the village of Hyllestad itself. There is no settlement of its own at the landing stage; you arrive by road, by bus or as a transfer from another boat.
Two different kinds of traffic meet at the quay, and they are run by different operators. The car ferry to Rutledal and Krakhella in Solund belongs to Fjord1, while the express boat to Florø, Selje, Sollibotn and Bergen is run by Norled. Bus connections are handled by Skyss. If you are planning a chain of bus, express boat and car ferry, you should compare the timetables from three sources and allow for waiting time at the ferry in high season and at weekends.
