Salerno ferry port is in Campania in Italy, at the eastern end of the Amalfi Coast. From here you can reach 14 destinations, among them Amalfi, Positano and Minori. Together the services add up to as many as 162 departures a day, because the short coastal routes run every half hour in summer. Crossings take between 15 minutes and 24.75 hours: Cetara is minutes away, Palermo a whole night. The port is served by 8 operators, among them Alicost, Caronte & Tourist and Grassi Junior.

Getting there and the terminal

Salerno has two separate departure points, and mixing them up costs you the sailing. The fast boats along the Amalfi Coast leave from Travelmar at Piazza della Concordia, in the Masuccio tourist harbour, a few steps from Salerno station. The large ferries to Sicily and Tunisia, by contrast, leave from the commercial port on the west side; Grimaldi Lines gives Via Ligea for that. By car you come from Naples on the A3 and the Vietri sul Mare exit, and from the direction of Rome and Caserta on the A30 and the Avellino-Salerno link road to the Salerno Centro exit.

Check-in

Grimaldi Lines wants at least two hours' lead time for Palermo and three hours for Tunis, with or without a vehicle. Check-in is at the desk in the Stazione Marittima. In both cases boarding ends one hour before departure, and anyone arriving later loses their booking.
