Samothrace ferry port lies on Samothrace in the north-western Aegean. The berth is not at the main town of the same name but in Kamariotissa on the west coast of the island, about four and a half kilometres away. From here you can reach Alexandroupolis on the Greek mainland as well as Agios Efstratios and Limnos. Together the services run up to 8 departures a day. Crossings take between 1.75 and 4.25 hours. The port is served by Cyclades Fast Ferries.
In practice that means Samothrace depends on one main link. At a good hour and a half, Alexandroupolis is the shortest route and at the same time by far the most frequently served; the two island destinations to the west sail less often and take considerably longer, Agios Efstratios more than four hours. If you want to travel on into the Aegean, it is better to change on the mainland than via Limnos. And if you arrive without a car, sort out your onward travel from the quay before you set off: the main town and the island's best-known sights are not at the port.
