San Pedro is the main town of Ambergris Caye, the largest island in Belize, and its link to the mainland. From here you can reach Belize City, Caye Caulker and Belize City international airport. Together the services run up to 67 departures a day. Crossings take between 30 minutes to Caye Caulker and 1.75 hours to the airport. The port is served by Belize Express Water Taxi and Caribbean Sprinter.
Getting there and the terminal
Belize Express Water Taxi, which calls itself San Pedro Belize Express, gives Coconut Drive as its location in San Pedro; the head office is in Belize City on North Front Street at the Belize Marine Terminal. In town you walk, unless you take a golf cart anyway, which is the usual vehicle on Ambergris Caye. The operator advises arriving early at the berth and checking the weather and sea state before you sail.
Check-in
There is a firm deadline for luggage: it has to be handed to a uniformed member of the operator's staff no later than 15 minutes before departure. Before that you exchange your booking for a boarding pass at the desk.
