Savona

Town port

The ferry port lies 6 km from the town it is named after.

Terminals
Calata Nord, Porto Vado, 17047 Vado Ligure (Corsica Ferries)
Location
Vado Ligure, Savona, Ligurien

The ferry port of Savona lies in Liguria in Italy. From here you can reach Bastia and L’Île-Rousse on Corsica. Together the routes add up to as many as 6 departures a day. Crossings take between 6 and 7.5 hours. The port is served by Corsica Ferries. The clear focus is on Bastia; L’Île-Rousse is called at far less often.

Getting there and the terminal

The name of the port is misleading, and it regularly costs travellers their ferry: the ships do not leave from the town harbour of Savona but from neighbouring Vado Ligure. Corsica Ferries gives the terminal address as Calata Nord, Porto Vado, 17047 Vado Ligure, and lists the coordinates 44.2661 and 8.44668 for the approach. If you let your sat nav guide you to Savona Centro, you end up at the wrong basin. The destination is Porto Vado, not the old town.

Check-in

Corsica Ferries requires one hour's lead time before departure if you are travelling with a vehicle. As a foot passenger you must be at the terminal at least 30 minutes beforehand. If you arrive later, the operator expressly reserves the right to refuse carriage. So count the drive from Savona to Vado Ligure into your schedule, not into your buffer.
