Ferries to Sekupang

The ferry port of Sekupang lies on the west coast of the Indonesian island of Batam. From here you can reach the HarbourFront Centre in Singapore, with ferries leaving up to 27 times a day. The crossing takes around 45 minutes. The port is served by Batam Fast Ferry, Majestic Fast Ferry and Sindo Ferry.

Getting there and the terminal

Sekupang has more than one berth, and only one of them counts for Singapore: the Terminal Internasional Sekupang on Jalan RE Martadinata in the Tanjung Pinggir quarter. The berth for Indonesian domestic traffic lies next to it, but it will not get you across the Singapore Strait. In the international terminal all three operators sit under one roof, along with immigration, customs and health control as well as waiting halls, security, places to eat and Wi-Fi. Departures for Singapore start at six in the morning and run until early evening, while the return direction from Singapore finishes later in the evening.

Check-in

This is an exit point, so the lead time is longer than for an ordinary ferry. Batam Fast requires you to be at the pre-immigration gate with your boarding pass no later than 30 minutes before departure, and closes online booking one hour before departure. Even so, reckon on a full hour at the terminal: between the counter and the ship lie baggage drop-off, immigration and security, and at weekends the queues there are noticeable.
