Selje ferry port lies on the west coast of Norway and is the northern end point of the fast boat line to Bergen. From here you can reach 10 destinations, among them Askvoll, Bergen and Florø. Together the services run up to 34 departures a day. Crossings take between 30 minutes and 5 hours. The port is served by Norled.
Getting there and the terminal
The quay is in the village itself, not on a headland outside it. The pilgrim centre, the accommodation and the boat out to the monastery ruins on the island of Selja are all within walking distance, so a wait between two departures does not have to be spent at the terminal.
The line to Bergen runs all year, twice a day from Monday to Friday and once a day at weekends. Heading south it calls at Måløy, Leirgulen, Smørhamn, Florø, Askvoll, Krakhella, Rysjedalsvika, Skjerjehamn, Sollibotn, Mjømna, Vardetangen and Lygra. That explains the spread of journey times from this end: Måløy is half an hour away, while Bergen sits at the other end of the same run.
On board there is a café, wi-fi, toilets and outside seating, and the vessel is step-free. That makes the long run to Bergen worth taking as a journey rather than a transfer.
