Sète lies in the Hérault department between the Étang de Thau and the Mediterranean and is the westernmost French Mediterranean port with scheduled ferry services. From here you can reach 10 destinations: Corsica with Ajaccio, Bastia and L'Île-Rousse, Mallorca with Alcúdia, Porto Torres on Sardinia, as well as Algiers, Béjaïa, Skikda, Tanger Med and Nador in North Africa. Crossings take between 12.5 and 43.5 hours. The port is served by Corsica Ferries, Corsica Linea and Grandi Navi Veloci.

Getting there and the terminal

All ferry departures go through the Gare Maritime Orsetti. The entrance is on Place Mangeot, 34200 Sète; entering the terminal name itself into your sat nav also works as a destination. The port is connected to the motorway network via the A9 between Montpellier and Perpignan. From Sète station on Place André Cambon it's around 17 minutes on foot to the Gare Maritime, so it's a manageable journey for foot passengers without a car.

The pre-boarding holding areas are free with a confirmed booking and open from four hours before departure. Check-in takes place on the first floor of the terminal building, and you need to bring your passport and vehicle registration document with you.

Check-in

For Sète, Grandi Navi Veloci requires you to be at the terminal four hours before departure, whether with a vehicle or on foot. The desk closes 60 minutes before departure. This lead time is considerably longer than on short island routes, so factor it firmly into your journey planning.
