The ferry port of Sigri lies at the western tip of Lesbos in Greece, a long way from the island capital. From here you can reach Mesta, Mykonos and Piraeus. Together the services add up to as many as 6 departures a day. Crossings take between 2.5 and 9.75 hours. The port is served by Hellenic Seaways.
Getting there and the terminal
Do not underestimate the distance. The Natural History Museum of the Petrified Forest, which stands in the village itself, gives around 90 kilometres from Sigri to Mytilene. Arrive here and you have the whole island ahead of you; leave from here and you have to cross it first. By hire car or motorbike, Sigri is reachable on the road network into western Lesbos. On public transport there is the KTEL intercity bus, though in winter it runs only twice a week between Mytilene and Sigri. Plan your journey around the bus timetable rather than on the off chance; Sigri is a small fishing village where you wait a long time for a missed connection.
Check-in
Hellenic Seaways requires you to be in the boarding area at least one hour before departure, with a vehicle or without. Tickets are never issued on board, so you need yours beforehand.
