Skiathos ferry port lies in a sheltered bay at the south-eastern tip of the island, right beside the Chora; the islet of Bourzi divides the harbour basin. Skiathos is the westernmost of the Northern Sporades and the closest to the mainland: Volos is 2.25 hours away, Glossa on Skopelos half an hour, Skopelos Town one hour, Alonnisos one and a half. Add to that Mantoudi on Euboea, Platanias, Agnontas and Thessaloniki. Together the connections add up to as many as 71 departures a day. Five operators call at the port, among them Aegean Flying Dolphins, Leve Ferries and Mantoudi Lines.
Getting there and the terminal
The port is divided into sections, and the arrangement is strictly regulated. Sections H to Θ are reserved for scheduled ferries and ro-pax ships alone; section H1 serves as a second disembarkation point for cruise passengers when needed. The commercial excursion boats lie at sections Ξ to Π, and fishing boats and yachts have quaysides of their own again. So if you are standing at the water looking for your ship, do not head for the nearest jetty and hope for the best — look for the signs marking the ferry berths. The municipal port authority can be reached on weekdays from 9am to 3pm.
