South Sea Island ferry port is in Fiji, on a tiny islet in the Mamanuca archipelago. From here you can reach Denarau on the main island of Viti Levu. Up to 10 departures a day are listed, and the crossing takes about 45 minutes. The route is operated by South Sea Cruises.
Getting there and the terminal
There is no berth here in the usual sense. The South Sea Cruises high-speed catamaran stops off the island, and a small tender takes you the last few metres ashore. Allow for that if you are unsteady on your feet or carrying a lot of luggage. On the main island the trip starts at Port Denarau near Nadi. South Sea Cruises sells its own shared coach transfers from most hotels in Nadi, Wailoaloa and Denarau, as well as direct transfers from the airport. The departures are built around day visitors: the full day starts at 10.00 in Denarau and ends with the return at 16.00 or 17.15, while the half day begins at 12.15.
Check-in
For the resort transfers, South Sea Cruises requires check-in at its own desk in the Port Denarau terminal, 30 minutes before the ship leaves. The same lead time is the safe choice for the day trips too.
