The ferry port of St Mary's lies on the largest island of the Isles of Scilly off the south-western tip of England. From here you can reach Penzance on the mainland. Ferries leave up to 2 times a day. The crossing takes around 2.75 hours. The port is served by Isles Of Scilly Travel.
Getting there and the terminal
The berth lies at Hugh Town, the island's main settlement. The route is seasonal: Isles of Scilly Travel gives the Scillonian III's operating period as March to November and puts the trip between Penzance and St Mary's at around 2 hours 45 minutes. On the mainland side the departure point is in Penzance harbour, less than a 15-minute walk from Penzance station; the bus station is the same distance away. If you are driving and leaving the car, it is better to book a car park near the harbour in advance, and the operator keeps its own overview for that. There are combined rail and sail tickets.
