Stromboli is the northernmost of the Aeolian Islands and, with its constantly active volcano, the most striking. The port is at the Scari district and links the island with 14 destinations, among them Lipari, Panarea and Salina, plus the mainland ports of Milazzo, Messina and Naples. Together the services run up to 104 departures a day, and crossings take between 15 minutes and 10 hours. The port is served by Liberty Lines, Siremar and SNAV.
Getting there and the terminal
Ships tie up at the Molo di Scari. Tickets are sold by an agency right at the berth, open daily from 6:30 to 13:30 and from 15:00 to 20:00. Stromboli has a second landing point: Ginostra, which is listed as a port in its own right and lies 15 minutes away. So when booking, check which of the two names is on your ticket.
Check-in
Liberty Lines requires you to be at the boarding area with a valid ticket no later than 30 minutes before departure; after that, carriage is no longer guaranteed. In heavy seas calls can be dropped at short notice, so on the day of travel it is worth checking the current status of your service.
