Syros ferry port is in Ermoupoli, the capital of the island and of the Cyclades. From here you can reach 32 destinations, among them Piraeus, Mykonos and Naxos. Together the services add up to as many as 102 departures a day. Crossings take between 15 minutes and 11.25 hours. The port is served by Blue Star Ferries, Hellenic Seaways and SeaJets. Tinos is 15 minutes away, Mykonos 45, Piraeus a good two hours.
Getting there and the terminal
The port sits on the edge of Ermoupoli and opens to the south-east, which shelters it in most weather. Ferries, fast craft, cruise ships and yachts have separate berths. The passenger terminal is a converted warehouse of 340 square metres and is unusually well equipped: free luggage lockers, a reading room, covered seating, step-free access, free wi-fi and display boards showing ship positions and departure times. The operators' ticket desks are within walking distance.
Check-in
Blue Star Ferries asks you to be at the boarding area at least one hour before departure, with or without a vehicle.
