Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal, 50 Tanah Merah Ferry Road, Singapur

Tanah Merah is Singapore's ferry terminal for the Indonesian Riau Islands and the east coast of Malaysia. From here you can reach six destinations: Batam Centre and Nongsapura on Batam, Bandar Bentan Telani and Tanjung Pinang on Bintan, and Desaru and Tanjung Pengelih in Malaysia. Together the services add up to as many as 57 departures a day. Crossings take between 45 minutes and 2 hours. The port is served by Batam Fast Ferry, Bintan Resort Ferries, Majestic Fast Ferry and Sindo Ferry.

Getting there and the terminal

The address is 50 Tanah Merah Ferry Road. By MRT you take the East West Line to Bedok or Tanah Merah and change there onto bus 35 to the terminal; the terminal operator Singapore Cruise Centre allows around 50 minutes from the city centre. From Changi airport a shuttle bus brings you here from Terminals 1, 2 and 4 in about 40 minutes, by taxi it is around 10 minutes, and a good 20 from the city. There is a lay-by for drop-offs in front of the entrance, and parking is charged.

Check-in

You check your luggage in no earlier than 60 and no later than 20 minutes before departure. Security screening opens 45 minutes before departure and closes 15 minutes before it. Singapore Cruise Centre therefore advises being at the terminal 45 to 60 minutes ahead. Have your passport and boarding pass ready for the checks, because every destination from Tanah Merah is abroad.
