Tangier ferry port lies in Morocco on the Strait of Gibraltar and has exactly one destination: Tarifa in Andalusia. A ferry leaves up to 34 times a day and the crossing takes around an hour. The port is served by Africa Morocco Link and Balearia. The port authority calls the crossing the quickest way between Morocco and Spain.
Getting there and the terminal
What is meant here is the Port de Tanger Ville, and according to the port authority it lies in the middle of the city, close to the old medina. So you walk straight from the ship into town, with no transfer. For this terminal the port authority names only Africa Morocco Link and Balearia as operators, and only the route to Tarifa.
Do not confuse it with Tanger Med. The region's second port lies in the Ksar El Majaz free zone in the province of Fahs Anjra and serves Spain, France and Italy. From western Tangier it is 54 kilometres and around 30 minutes' drive away, from the eastern edge of the city 35 kilometres and about 20 minutes. Tanger Med is reached on the RN16 or the motorway, by taxi and by city bus from Tanger Ville station. If you book from there, you should know the port's deadlines: for Algeciras, Tanger Med requires two hours' lead time, and five hours for Motril, Barcelona, Sète, Marseille and Genoa.
