Thessaloniki ferry port is in Central Macedonia in Greece, in the middle of the second-largest city in the country. From here you can reach 8 destinations, among them Alonnisos, Chios and Lemnos. Together the services add up to as many as 16 departures a day. Crossings take between 3.25 and 20.5 hours: Skiathos and the Sporades are a half-day trip, while Lesbos and Samos become overnight sailings. The port is served by Hellenic Seaways and SeaJets.
Getting there and the terminal
Ferries leave from the "Makedonia" passenger terminal. It is on the ground floor of the neoclassical building at the main gate of the port, around 500 metres from the city centre, and it is open around the clock. The port itself is one kilometre from Thessaloniki passenger railway station and 16 kilometres from Makedonia airport. So if you arrive by train, you walk to the terminal or take a taxi. A second passenger terminal stands on Pier 2 and is used mainly for cruises.
Check-in
Hellenic Seaways asks you to be in the boarding area at least one hour before departure, on foot as well as with a vehicle. Drivers must take their car on board and off again themselves, and passengers get out before loading.
