Tilos ferry port lies in Livadia, the island's largest village; the quay borders directly on the houses. Tilos is a quiet stop on the Dodecanese line between Kos and Rhodes and, for such a small island, remarkably well connected: from here you can reach 14 destinations. The crossing to Chalki takes half an hour, to Nisyros 45 minutes, to Kos one and a half hours and to Rhodes two and a half; Kalymnos is just under four hours away, Astypalea six, and there are long crossings to Patmos, Ikaria and Kastelorizo on top. Together the connections add up to as many as 30.5 departures a day, and crossings take between 30 minutes and 14.5 hours. Two connections run in season only. The port is served by Blue Star Ferries, Dodekanisos Seaways, Hellenic Seaways and SAOS Ferries.
Getting there and the terminal
The berth lies on the south-east coast in the natural bay of Livadia. There is no need to look for a terminal building: shops, cafés, travel agencies, a cash machine and a mini-market are all within walking distance of the quay. It is seven kilometres to the island's main village Megalo Chorio, three to Mikro Chorio and eight to Eristos beach. The island bus stops at the harbour and runs from there to Megalo Chorio, Agios Antonios, Eristos and the Charkadio cave; it operates all year and much more frequently between June and September. Taxis on Tilos are few and far between, so you should call ahead. Hire cars and scooters are available near the port, and in high season it is better to book them in advance.
