The ferry port of Tinos is at the Chora, the main town of the Cycladic island, and is the only sheltered harbour on the island; it is around 77 nautical miles to Piraeus. From here you can reach 15 destinations, among them Mykonos, Rafina and Andros. Together the services add up to as many as 125 departures a day. Crossings take between 15 minutes and 7 hours. The port is served by 5 operators, among them Blue Star Ferries, Cyclades Fast Ferries and Golden Star Ferries.

Getting there and the terminal

Tinos has two harbour basins, and that is the most important thing to know before departure: the outer, newer harbour takes the conventional ferries and the cruise ships, while the inner, older basin takes the fast boats and smaller vessels. Ask at the ticket desk or check your ticket to see which basin applies to your ship. Both are at the Chora, about 500 metres from the town centre. Taxis wait outside the port, the bus stop is around 100 metres away, and the public car park is free. There are waiting areas, wi-fi and public toilets at the port, and cafés and shops along the promenade.

Check-in

For the Cyclades routes, Blue Star Ferries asks you to be in the boarding area at least one hour before departure, with a vehicle as well as on foot; Hellenic Seaways states the same deadline. Allow for the walk between the two basins.
