Torcello

Town port

Location
Venezia-Murano-Burano, Venedig, Venezia, Venetien

The ferry port of Torcello lies in the Venetian lagoon in Veneto, north of Burano. From here you can reach Murano and Burano. Together the routes add up to as many as 5 departures a day. Crossings take between 15 and 30 minutes. The port is served by Consorzio Vidali Group.

Getting there and the terminal

Torcello has only one landing stage, and it is not where the island is actually visited. From the pontile the Fondamenta dei Borgognoni runs along the canal into the centre: around 600 metres, or 10 to 15 minutes on foot. The Basilica di Santa Maria Assunta stands along it, at number 24. There are no cars on Torcello; the island is walked from end to end.

On the public network, Torcello hangs off Burano. Actv runs line 9 as a short shuttle between the two islands, with a journey time of 5 minutes. According to the published timetable it runs every quarter of an hour, from Burano Pontile A between 9:30am and 5:45pm and back from Torcello between 9:40am and 5:55pm. Coming from the city, you first take the boat from Fondamente Nove to Burano and change there. Plan your last return deliberately: the shuttle stops running in the early evening.
