Uig lies on the north-west coast of Skye on the Trotternish peninsula and is the island's ferry port for the Outer Hebrides. Caledonian MacBrayne sails from here to Tarbert on Harris and to Lochmaddy on North Uist. Together the two routes add up to as many as 6 departures a day, and each crossing takes around 105 minutes.
Getting there and the terminal
The terminal has the address Uig, Isle of Skye, IV51 9XX, and stands right on the bay. There are free spaces around the building, though only a limited number; a disabled bay lies directly alongside, and the adjoining council car park has a charging point for electric cars. Without your own vehicle you can arrive on the local bus routes, whose stop is right next to the ticket office. Inside the terminal building you will find the ticket desk, a waiting area, toilets and free wi-fi. A petrol station, cash machine and shop are only 25 metres from the harbour.
Check-in
Caledonian MacBrayne sets check-in at 45 minutes before departure for vehicles and 30 minutes for foot passengers. If you arrive later, you risk your booked vehicle space being given away or your vehicle being turned back. Tickets and bookings should be sorted before you travel.
