Location
Ustica, Palermo, Sizilien

The ferry port of Ustica Cala Cimitero is on the island of Ustica north of Sicily. From here you can reach Palermo, with up to 3 sailings a day. The crossing takes around 2.75 hours. The port is served by Siremar.

Getting there and the terminal

Cala Cimitero is not the island's regular harbour. Ustica is normally served through Cala Santa Maria, a natural bay on the north-west side of the island right by the village. There are three berths there: the Molo Barresi for pleasure craft, the Sailem berth at the small mole for the hydrofoils, and on the outside the Banchina Sirena, where the ferries tie up. The fuel station and an operator's desk are there too.

Cala Cimitero is on the other side and is purely a fallback berth, with no staff and no facilities. It is used when the main berth cannot be worked, and otherwise for heavy cargo and for taking the island's waste away. After severe storm damage the Sicilian regional government made money available for repairs; the port authority in Palermo had partly closed the berth in the meantime.

So if your ticket says Cala Cimitero, expect a bare quay wall rather than a terminal, and allow for the walk into the village.
